Affenberg (Monkey Mountain) - Salem, Germany

Monkey Mountain, known as Affenberg in German, is a wildlife reserve where people can go and feed and interact with monkeys. You are given a handful of popcorn upon entering the park and you walk around and are able to feed the monkeys as they wait for you to give them pieces of popcorn. You are allowed to get within three feet of the monkeys, which lets you get up close and personal with them which is really cool! The monkeys were very gentle and carefully grabbed the popcorn from your outstretched hand as they sat on benches like little humans.

The monkeys were so cute swinging and climbing in the trees above us!

The monkeys' hands felt like little baby hands with longer nails. They would slowly reach out their hand and quickly snatch the popcorn out of your hand and eat it. At one point, someone dropped their piece of popcorn on the ground and picked it up and gave it to the monkey, and he was so smart knowing that it had touched the ground that he took the popcorn and dropped it because he didn't want it since it had fallen on the floor already.

Our monkey feeding pictures!

Me and the monkey, who is examine the popcorn I gave her.

momma and baby monkey!

Look at that little face! So cute!

There was a little lake surrounding the park with ducks and fish.

Saw some deer in the park. Such pretty animals.

Pictures of the storks that lived at the park before I realized they eat smaller birds and watched it happen. Storks are forever changed in my eyes after seeing them eat baby chicks for dinner!
